On the left, an example of clinical FDG-PET/CT is provided.
Cross-sections reconstruction of the fusion study, in a case of advanced lung cancer
On the right, an example of fusion used in hybrid equipment: the anatomic-map gained/given with CT provides the ideal mathematical correction of the radiofarmacological signal. Signal normally softened/toned down by body structures of different densities. The combination of emission information (PET) and transmission information (CT) also allows to accurately overlap a metabolic signal (in this case pathological in the chest area) in the patient's anatomical context, enhancing diagnostic accuracy.
